Food For Your Soul

What’s your go-to comfort food?

When I attempt to answer that question of what’s my go to comfort food my mind goes back to my all-time favorite Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream whenever I wanted to chill and relax or some milk and cookies late at night but when I needed comfort, I found all the comfort I needed in the Word of God. For every situation whether it was depression, health issues, money problems, family problems, gambling problems I’ve been there and the food that comforted me the most was the Word of God! One of My all-time favorites was found in Psalm 91 which was my 911 emergency Psalm or Psalm 37 which gave me strength and comfort from my enemies. There were others which would be to numerous to name but just remember if you want real comfort, then I recommend the Word of God. It’s Food for your Soul!

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Watching TV causes me to sometimes lose track of time. I am a TV fanatic at times and I love to watch old movies, old sitcoms, westerns and yes I’m a Star Trekkie! So I have to be careful that I don’t allow it to distract me from my work of the ministry because there will be things and points of interest on TV that will draw your attention and cause you to lose track of time so “Stay Focused”.

What do you think gets better with age?

Seeping through the cracks of time, from the beginning of time up until this present time, the one thing that has always prevailed is and always is and I repeat, is LOVE! Love conquers all and it gets better with age. My wife of 36 years still looks as good as the day I met her and that’s because of the love we have for each other!

What are you most excited about for the future?

What I’m excited about most for my future is that it has an expected end! Regardless of what it may look like now, I know my future holds blessings upon blessings that I have never imagined. God says in his word in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. KJV So God has already worked it out, figured it out and now he’s getting ready to bring it to pass in my future and yours! He has plans for you just expect it, receive it and believe it and watch it happen right before your eyes! I can’t wait!

What’s your definition of romantic?

My definition of romantic is someone who demonstrates their love for the one they love in a very special way. Whether it be through a love poem, a gift of flowers or candy with a card enclosed; a bed or bathtub full of roses or even just a plain simple, “I love you” will do at times. Of course nothing could compare to the love God showed us by giving his only begotten son Jesus to die for our sins. But if there were ever so a romantic it was Solomon and the words he expressed for his love is found in the Song of Solomon 1:1-4; 2:1-4. Well anything after those first 2 chapters maybe considered a little too much for virgin ears but that’s how much of a romantic he was. My definition exactly.

Who is your favorite historical figure?

Jesus is my favorite historical figure. Of all the prominent and most successful people in the world covering every genre including political, musical, scientific, cultural, religious, even fictional, Jesus is my favorite. He walked out on the water and calmed a raging sea; he healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, made the lame to walk and the mute to speak and even raised the dead. But even more-so, one day he died and three days later he arose from the grave with all power in his hands! He is the GOAT, and I’m happy to say he’s my all time favorite!

What fears have you overcome and how?

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind, II Timothy 1:7. When I was in grade school I had to walk to school by myself and sometimes the older kids would often bully you and if you were afraid they would take your lunch money. So I would hide my money in my shoes, socks, etc. to avoid giving up my lunch money until one day I had to make a stand and afterwards that fear left me and no one bothered me anymore because I realized that I could stand on my own and that even at an early age, God was with me. God promised to never leave or forsake us so there’s no need to fear because he is with us!

What quality do you value most in a friend?

A True Friend

Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” The quality I value most in a friend is his ability to stand by me through thick and thin and when I’m wrong tell me because you may save my soul and yourself. That’s true friendship!
